Abstract

---------------------------The capacity / utilization of the fishing capacity, besides being a recommendation of FAO, is very important for Cape Verde, given the relative participation of the fishing sector in the economical development of the country. The politics of restriction of production inputs depend on the level of capacity utilization. This study had the pretension of analyzing the evolution of the capacity utilization in fisheries in Cape Verde in the sense of supplying subsidies for an administration more effective of the fishing resources of Cape Verde. The results indicated that the islands that are larger producers of fish presented larger levels of capacity utilization along the analyzed period. Those results bring certain peacefulness for the managers of fishing resources as few possibilities exist of increasing the production.
