    Abstract

    Do healthier diets cost more? We estimate a hedonic regression model of the U.S. diet. Given food expenditures and information on dietary intake we infer the marginal cost of improved quality. MeetingthePyramidrecommendationsimpliesdecreasedexpendituresfromtwoofthe seven food groups.
