Transformaciones Productivas, Espaciales Y Sociales En La Argentina Extrapampeana, 1850-1890

Abstract

A partir de la década de 1850 se incrementaron las actividades mercantiles y se fortaleció la acumulación de capitales en Cuyo y el norte argentino, iniciándose un proceso que desde fines de los 70 produjo un radical reemplazo de los modelos productivos. Tucumán y Mendoza lideraron los cambios hacia sistemas agroindustriales y anticiparon el nuevo perfil social de sus respectivas regiones, desarrollando economías complementarias del espacio central pampeano. Ese proceso dependió, entre otros factores, de la activa participación de empresarios regionales, cuyo comportamiento indica una lógica bastante permeable a las innovaciones, productivas y organizacionales, que tuvieron directa incidencia en el éxito de los modelos agroindustriales implantados. Asimismo, incluyó una redefinición de las élites dominantes y su incorporación a la coalición nacional expresada en el roquismo. Entonces garantizaron -en especial desde el Congreso nacional-, un efectivo manto protector para ambas agroindustrias, pese a la propaganda hostil que mereció de los adherentes al librecambio.
