Abstract

We summarize and synthesize the frameworks of analysis and quantitative and qualitative evidence from several countries of the impact of science and technology parks (STPs) both on regional development and on tenant firms and territorial development. We observe that the chapters recognize the importance of taking into account the multi-dimensional environmental context within which STPs operate, emphasize the importance of understanding interactions and networks among the various stakeholders involved with STPs, and identify the multiplicity of types of STPs regarding their ownership and goals, business models and strategies, resources and outcomes over time. We outline a high level schematic view of these relationships that form a basis for identification of data sources and policy development.
