Abstract

The recent global financial crisis has been truly disastrous both for the world economy and the national economies. The implications of the crisis vary from country to country depending on many factors, including the pre-crisis levels and rates of economic development as well as structural specifics of the national economies. The authors compare the ways in which the world breakdown has influenced the output and certain macroeconomic indicators of the SEE countries and Russia as well as review possible growth-inducing policies in the present state of the countries in question.
