Globalización: ¿de qué y para qué? Lecciones de la historia

Abstract

El objetivo del libro es doble. Por un lado, analizar la globalización como un proceso histórico, económico, político y social, con énfasis en dos aspectos de la misma: la evolución de la globalización comercial y la financiera. La idea es que no es posible independizar el estudio de la globalización económica de otras áreas de las ciencias sociales, pues los procesos económicos no ocurren en el vacío. Por otro, el “para qué” de la globalización está vinculado con los efectos sociales que ha generado. Para ello se analizan las tendencias en la pobreza y la distribución de ingresos en la historia y se esbozan los canales que conectan a la globalización económica con la dimensión social de la misma.
