Abstract

This volume provides an in-depth insight on vital developmental issues by the earliest economists of India, like B.P. Adarker, Gyanchand, B,R. Ambedkar, V.K.R.V. Rao, and Radhakamal Mukherjee. The book is an anthology of Indian economic thought, before it attained recognition worldwide. The volume provides readers with a rare insight into historical issues, which bear striking semblance to the contemporary economic scenario. The contributions cover a wide array of topics, like the general economic circumstances prevalent, the form of industrialization desirable and the need for protection of indigenous industries, credit systems, environmental economics, to the problem of unemployment, the role of women the labour force, and the agrarian question.
