John Rawls (1921-2002) transformó la filosofía política de lengua inglesa. Su obra redefinió los términos del debate sobre la justicia, el liberalismo y el deber ser de una sociedad bien ordenada. Esta colección de ensayos es un homenaje a su memoria y fue inicialmente presentada como la primera “Cátedra Jorge Eliécer Gaitán” de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Los autores de la presente recopilación son académicos de diversas disciplinas e instituciones e incluyen a Jorge Iván González, Jimena Hurtado, Mauricio Pérez Salazar, Óscar Mejía Quintana, Mario García Molina, María Teresa Aya Smitmans, Jorge Giraldo Ramírez, Mauricio Uribe López, Alejandro Arregocés, Luis Carlos Valenzuela, María Luisa Rodríguez, Álvaro Herrera-Ramírez, Carolina Esguerra Roa, Alberto Castrillón Mora, María Teresa Lopera Chaves, Boris Salazar, Andrés Cendales y Daniel Castellanos.
