Abstract

The objective of this thesis is the positive and normative analysis of the organization of military research, development and technology, in France, in the present period. The research tackles theoretical and empirical questions related to knowledge economics and the organisation of R&D. It is based on a significant qualitative material, gathered in France and the United States. The first part is a theoretical analysis of the institutions and organisations involved in the production and the diffusion of knowledge. We illustrate the questioning of this system through that of military programs. The second part is dedicated to the definition of an analytical framework for the study of the repositioning of military innovation within the French system of innovation. The third part focuses on the identification of the modalities allowing the assertion of the Délégation Générale pour l’Armement as the central actor of dual policies.
