Junge mittelständische Unternehmen für Forschung auf Eigenkapital angewiesen

Abstract

Die Innovationsaktivität von Unternehmen ist eine wichtige Komponente des Wirtschaftswachstums. Konsumenten profitieren von Neuentwicklungen, die zu einer größeren Auswahl an Produkten und Dienstleistungen führen. Ebenfalls können durch die Erschließung zusätzlicher Märkte neue Arbeitsplätze geschaffen werden. Obwohl große Unternehmen den Hauptanteil an den gesamten Forschungsausgaben stellen, ist die Bedeutung von kleinen und mittleren Unternehmen im Innovationssystem nicht zu vernachlässigen - sie bestreiten immerhin 12,5 v.H. der Forschungsausgaben des privaten Sektors. Die gemeinsame Studie von ZEW und KfW Bankengruppe, Frankfurt, untersucht die Bedeutung der Eigenkapitalausstattung für die Forschungsaktivitäten von mittelständischen Unternehmen. Ein besonderes Augenmerk wird auf junge Unternehmen gerichtet, da diese häufiger Schwierigkeiten beim Zugang zu Bankkrediten haben und bei der Finanzierung noch nicht auf einbehaltene Gewinne zurückgreifen können.
