Abstract

Economic momentum in the euro area is declining further, but no signs have yet emerged of a sharp fall in output. Meanwhile, the discussion continues among European economic policymakers on measures aimed at restoring financial market confidence in the member states' fiscal management. Now also countries with hitherto relatively low sovereign debt levels are faced with rising financing costs.
