Abstract

Österreichs Wirtschaft verzeichnete im I. Quartal 2017 das stärkste Wachstum seit sechs Jahren. Zum einen blieb der private Konsum eine solide Konjunkturstütze, zum anderen profitierten die Exporte von starken Impulsen aus den Schwellenländern, insbesondere über die engen Zulieferketten mit Deutschland, und aus Ostmitteleuropa. Der Aufschwung, der mit der Steuerreform 2016 einsetzte, sorgt nun für einen Rückgang der Arbeitslosigkeit, sodass kräftige Zweitrundeneffekte zusätzliche Nachfrage schaffen; die Konsumentenstimmung hat wieder zu jener in Deutschland aufgeschlossen. Dennoch zeigen sich auf dem Arbeitsmarkt Strukturprobleme. Die massive Zunahme des Arbeitskräfteangebotes durch die Ostöffnung des Arbeitsmarktes, die Alterung der Erwerbsbevölkerung und die Umsetzung von Pensionsreformmaßnahmen trugen zu einer Verfestigung der Arbeitslosigkeit bei.
