MOEL: Wachstumsvorsprung gegenüber Westeuropa bleibt erhalten

Abstract

Die Inlandsnachfrage, insbesondere der private Konsum, wuchs in den neuen EU-Ländern in Mitteleuropa in erster Linie aufgrund der Einkommensteigerung, in den anderen Ländern der Region weitgehend kreditfinanziert kräftig und war damit auch 2007 die Hauptstütze des BIP-Wachstums. Die Verteuerung von Energie und Lebensmitteln sowie die zunehmenden Arbeitsmarktengpässe hatten eine deutliche Inflationsbeschleunigung zur Folge, vor allem in den ärmeren Ländern und in den MOEL mit fixem Wechselkursregime. Die erhöhte Inflation stellt in mehreren Fällen einen baldigen Eintritt in die Währungsunion in Frage, auch wenn sich die Situation der öffentlichen Finanzen generell weiter entspannte. Die weltweiten Finanzmarktturbulenzen und eine Wirtschaftsflaute in Westeuropa dürften die Aussichten der MOEL nicht wesentlich dämpfen; der bisherige Wachstumsvorsprung gegenüber der EU 15 von etwa 3,5 Prozentpunkten dürfte erhalten bleiben. Die Aussichten für die Türkei und Serbien sind mit etwas größeren Risken behaftet; nur in Ungarn wird sich das Wachstum beschleunigen.
