WIFO-Weißbuch: Gesamtwirtschaftliche Aspekte von Investitionen in die Verkehrsinfrastruktur

Abstract

Österreich verfügt wohl über eine gut ausgebaute Verkehrsinfrastruktur. Regelmäßige Überlastungen in den Ballungsräumen und auf den Transitrouten zu Ferienzeiten sowie Mängel in den Verbindungen zu den östlichen Nachbarländern erfordern aber einen weiteren Ausbau der Straßen und Schienenwege. Investitionen in die Verkehrsinfrastruktur werden vielfach als Maßnahme zur Konjunkturbelebung eingesetzt. Indem die Investitionen immer kapitalintensiver werden, verringern sich ihre Beschäftigungseffekte.
