Der Krankenstand als wichtiger Arbeitsmarktindikator

Abstract

Die Krankenstandshäufigkeit spiegelt Angebots- und Nachfragefaktoren auf dem Arbeitsmarkt wider. Sie steigt mit dem Alter und ist in der Bauwirtschaft sowie der Sachgüterproduktion am höchsten. Im internationalen Vergleich ist der Krankenstand in Österreich vor allem infolge der geringen Erwerbsbeteiligung älterer Arbeitskräfte relativ gering. Der große Unterschied zwischen den Krankenstandsquoten von Arbeitern und Angestellten legt eine Überprüfung der Einhaltung der Sicherheitsbestimmungen zum Schutz der Arbeitskräfte und eine Verbesserung der Arbeitsbedingungen der Arbeiter nahe.
