Vergleich der Preise zwischen Österreich und Deutschland laut Eurostat

Abstract

Das Statistische Amt der Europäischen Gemeinschaften (Eurostat) führt in Zusammenarbeit mit den statistischen Ämtern der 15 EU-Länder (sowie jener Islands, Norwegens, der Schweiz und Polens) laufend Preiserhebungen durch. Diese Daten geben nicht nur Hinweise auf das Ausmaß der Preisunterschiede zwischen Österreich und anderen Ländern, sondern bilden auch die Grundlage für den Vergleich der wirtschaftlichen Leistungskraft der OECD-Länder. Der Vergleich zwischen Österreich und Deutschland fördert große Preisunterschiede zutage. Insgesamt entspricht das Bild, das sich aus den Eurostat-Daten ergibt, nur zum Teil der Vorstellung, daß Industriewaren in der BRD billiger, dagegen arbeitsintensiv erzeugte Waren und Dienstleistungen in Österreich billiger angeboten würden. Die Berücksichtigung anderer Preisstatistiken läßt allerdings in manchen Bereichen Zweifel daran aufkommen, ob in die Eurostat-Erhebung tatsächlich Preise ähnlicher Produkte eingegangen sind.
