Regionaler Strukturwandel und EU-Regionalpolitik

Abstract

Die Intensivierung des Außenhandels im europäischen Integrationsprozeß verändert die räumliche Wirtschaftsstruktur Österreichs nachhaltig. Zunehmender inter-industrieller Handel schwächt einseitig strukturierte Regionen mit komparativen Standortnachteilen (Schwerindustriegebiete und ländliche Problemgebiete), verstärkter intra-industrieller Handel begünstigt gleichzeitig die hochwertigen Verdichtungsregionen im Westen sowie die Agglomeration Wien. Ein Beitritt Österreichs zur EU eröffnet den Zugang zu den Steuerungselementen der EU-Regionalpolitik; Fördermittel aus den EU-Strukturfonds, vor allem aber ein Reformschub für die nationale Regionalpolitik im inhaltlich-organisatorischen Bereich würden die Folge sein.
