La déformation du partage des gains de la croissance économique américaine et la crise économique

Abstract

La crise des subprimes qui s’est transformée en crise économique mondiale est le fruit d’un partage trop inégal des richesses entre le travail et le capital, entre les hauts revenus et les autres. On est retourné aux Etats-Unis à des niveaux d’inégalités équivalents à ceux du début du XXème siècle. Elles ont fortement crû récemment, avec la politique de réduction massive des impôts sur les hauts revenus, engagée par l’administration Bush. Les catégories les moins aisées, mais également la classe moyenne américaine dans son ensemble, n’ont guère profité de la croissance économique et se sont donc massivement endettées pour pouvoir consommer et continuer à s’identifier au rêve américain.
