Limits to intervention policies in Venezuela, Argentina and Mexico
Abstract
El exagerado intervencionismo de los estados venezolano, argentino, y mexicano, condujo a un desarrollo complejo de las distintas economías, obstaculizando el crecimiento en esos países. Sin embargo, la reforma estructural implantada en ellos, ha afectado de manera desigual sus economías, sobre todo, porque los aspectos sociopolíticos y culturales han sido relegados a un segundo plano. Las Políticas de Ajuste Estructural (PAE) se han basado fundamentalmente, en el restablecimiento de los equilibrios macroeconómicos olvidando a menudo la idiosincrasia de esos pueblos. Las políticas sociales y culturales, de las que en un principio adolecían las PAE, ahora comienzan a se incluidas pero de forma complementaria u subsidiaria porque aún persiste la idea que de lo que se trata es de un problema meramente económico y de mercado. Pese a las recomendaciones recientes de los organismos multilaterales (FMI y BM), esas políticas se siguen aplicando con un criterio meramente economicista. Por esta razón, la transición hacia una economía de mercado en los países mencionados, resulta compleja y difícil. Por tanto, las políticas neoliberales seguirán siendo insuficientes y poco pertinentes hasta tanto no se vinculen con cada realidad en particular y en donde prive la decisión fundamental de los propios países en un contexto de profundización de la democracia.Download Info
