Abstract

El objetivo central de este estudio es examinar las implicaciones sobre el empleo de distintas estrategias de comercio exterior vinculadas al sector industrial manufacturero chileno. La estrategia de comercio exterior que se siga, industrialización por sustitución de importaciones (ISI) y/o promoción de exportaciones manufactureras (PEM), puede afectar el empleo a través de tres canales: la composición de la canasta de bienes producidos, la intensidad de uso de factores productivos y la tasa de crecimiento de la economía. En este artículo se estudian exclusivamente los dos primeros aspectos.
