Desempleo y la estructura de los mercados laborales en Colombia

Abstract

Los problemas de desempleo e ingresos bajos de un sector de la fuerza laboral empleada ha sido de gran interés, tanto en países desarrollados como en vías de desarrollo. Se usan comúnmente tres hipótesis para explicar el desempleo en países en vías de desarrollo; la de crecimiento insuficiente, la demográfica (a medida que se acelera el crecimiento de la población en edad de trabajar, el desempleo aumenta) y la hipótesis de las distorsiones del mercado laboral. Obviamente, para que cualquiera de las dos primeras hipótesis sea válida es necesario que exista algún tipo de rigidez en el mercado laboral. El objetivo principal de este trabajo es entregar alguna evidencia empírica para Colombia que permita discriminar entre las tres hipótesis. Un segundo objetivo es entender mejor la determinación de salarios en el sector informal, donde se concentra el problema de la pobreza.ios de Economia
