Abstract

Para los interesados en estudios históricos sobre la economía chilena, la evolución de la producción industrial es una variable fundamental. Ello se debe a la importancia que tiene el sector industrial manufacturero, ya sea por su alto aporte al producto nacional, su potencial de generación de empleo, su encadenamiento con otras actividades, su relación con el avance tecnológico. etc. Este trabajo pretende ofrecer a esas personas los resultados y metodología de un índice de producción industrial calculado para el período enero 1960 - diciembre 1969, sobre la base de los índices oficiales de la Sociedad de Fomento Fabril (SOFOFA) y de la Dirección de Estadísticas y Censos (D.E.C., actualmente Instituto Nacional de Estadística - INE). Haciendo una combinación de ambos.
