The volume of inter-area movement between 1945 and 1965 in the United Kingdom is related to the stock of manufacturing concerns that gave rise to it to yield rates of movement by industrial order and planning region. Such rates of movement provide a measure of comparative mobility between industries across the country and between regions across industry.
