Abstract

CAIRNS J. A. and HARRIS A. H. (1988) Firm location and differential barriers to entry in the offshore oil supply industry, Reg. Studies 22, 499--506. A survey of North Sea oil supply firms is used to examine their differential access to markets. It is suggested that the nature of the market is such as to limit entry by indigenous firms, particularly in the core activities characterized by high technology and long lead-times. The necessity for proximity to customers demands the setting up of substantial supply activity by companies with headquarters at other locations. CAIRNS J. A. und HARRIS A. H. (1988) Firmenstandorte und verschiedenartige Schranken beim Einstieg in das Geschäft der Belieferung der off-shore Industrie, Reg. Studies 22, 499--506.
