Galicia In View Of The European Territorial Strategy

Abstract

The new European scenario makes us to reconsider development strategies beyond the purely regional level, so that we could face up to new multi-regional action lines. The heterogeneity of situations, with regional differences and several dynamics of spatial integration in Europe, highlight the need to reconcile objectives of both competitiveness and territorial cohesion within a framework of sustainable growth, under the perspective of a European Territorial Strategy. This document intends to establish where the economy and the role of Galicia is within this integration framework, by underlining the own characteristics of a territorial entity, and also providing results of the problems and advantages derived from specialisation.
