Inflación cíclica y desempeño macroeconómico en economías de América Latina (1960-2002)

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the effect of the cyclical inflation, on the cyclical components of different macroeconomic variables. The inflationary periods in Latin America have been associated to economic crises, characterized by important diminutions in the rate of economic activity. This work focuses to find out which has been the relation that kept the inflation with respect to the evolution from other economic variables of great relevance, such as gross formation of capital, gross internal saving and exports. The used methodology makes abstraction of the tendencies of long term of the variables and it is concentrated in his fluctuations of short term. The work finds that the movements outside the tendency or the variations of short term of the inflation, that is to say, the cyclical inflation, the one that by not being anticipated does distort the economic decisions and causes inefficiency.
