La financiación de las oligarquías provinciales en el apogeo y crisis del negocio inmobiliario en España: una reflexión sociológica sobre las cajas de ahorros

Abstract

El hundimiento, en el contexto de la crisis internacional del capitalismo, del modelo económico basado en el “ladrillo” y la especulación urbanística −además de en el turismo− ha puesto sobre la mesa el problema de las cajas de ahorros. En este artículo se repasa el papel destacado que estas peculiares entidades financieras han venido jugado en la financiación del boom inmobiliario de las últimas décadas en España. Creemos que no se puede llegar al fondo del asunto sin comprender la naturaleza histórica de unas fragmentadas oligarquías económicas y políticas de ámbito provincial y local, lideradas por promotores y grandes propietarios del suelo rústico y urbano, que han encontrado en las cajas de ahorros una privilegiada forma de financiación para los turbios y particulares negocios en los que se ha basado el tan alabado milagro económico español.
