Abstract
ABSTRACT The target of this work is to estimate separately the contribution of horizontal and vertical segregation on the gender wage gap in the hospitality sector. Such estimation is carried out from a territorial perspective, distinguishing between different tourism areas in Andalusia. Matched employee-employer data from a sample of 181 hotels and 121 restaurants is used. The main results are the following ones. Vertical segregation increases the wage differential. However, this contribution is higher in the capital of province and in the coastal areas than in the interior areas. Horizontal segregation diminishes the wage gap only in the capitals of province and in the coastal areas.Download Info
