Abstract

ABSTRACT In this paper we study the evolution over the period 1996 to 2007 of the dimensional heterogeneity of the firms located in Spanish industrial districts. The results confirm the presence of a district model with an increasingly heterogeneous structure, although higher levels of homogeneity are observed compared to those companies not located in districts. This fact confirms that the district still exerts a significant influence on their companies. On the other hand, this result varies across industrial sectors, presenting fashion-led districts the higher growth trends of its internal heterogeneity.
