Abstract

[eng] Consumer preference for domestic goods and penetration of a foreign market. . This paper analyzes the influence of consumers preference for domestic goods on the choice of a foreign firm between export and direct investment. We make appear a particular aspect of firms interdependence: direct investment results from a power struggle unfavourable to the foreign firm and not from a competitive advantage. [fre] Cet article analyse l'influence de la préférence des consommateurs pour les biens nationaux sur le choix d'une entreprise étrangère entre exportation et investissement direct. Nous faisons apparaître un aspect particulier de l'interdépendance des entreprises : l'investissement direct se justifie, non pas par la détention d'un avantage concurrentiel par rapport au concurrent local, mais résulte au contraire d'un rapport de force défavorable à l'entreprise étrangère.
