Abstract

[fre] Depuis 1978, les provinces chinoises connaissent des différences d'inflation importantes. Cet article relie cette observation à la littérature théorique existante sur le rôle joué par la politique économique locale sur la croissance du crédit et l'inflation en Chine. Un modèle présente la croissance du crédit et l'inflation provinciales comme des fonctions croissantes de l'autonomie macroéconomique des gouvernements locaux. Ces propositions sont ensuite testées à l'aide d'une analyse économétrique utilisant un panel de provinces chinoises. [eng] Local policy and inflation in China. . Important inflation differences have been existing since 1978 across the Chinese provinces. This paper intends to connect this observation with the literature that emphasises the role of local governments in the process of excess credit supply and inflation in China. A model presents provincial credit growth and inflation as a positive function of the macroeconomic autonomy enjoyed by local authorities. The proposition is supported by a panel-data analysis applied to the Chinese provinces.
