Abstract

[fre] Salaires relatifs, commerce Nord-Sud et progrès technique. Un modèle stylisé d'équilibre général. . Afin d'expliquer les inégalités salariales croissantes dans la plupart des pays industrialisés, nous proposons dans cet article un modèle stylisé qui permet d'appréhender les effets respectifs et les effets simultanés du commerce Nord-Sud et du progrès technique. L'enjeu est notamment de formaliser l'idée de progrès technique défensif, c'est-à-dire d'endogénéiser ce dernier par rapport aux échanges. Si le progrès technique semble avoir joué un rôle quelque peu supérieur à celui du commerce, il apparaît cependant que, suivant l'élasticité de substitution entre les facteurs de production, ses effets soient nettement plus ambigus que ceux des échanges, et que, dans sa forme endogène, il ait tendance à résorber les inégalités. [eng] Relative wages, North-South trade and technical progress: a stylized general equilibrium model. . In attempt to explain the increasing wage inequalities in most of industrial countries, we propose a stylized model which allows us to examine the respective effects and the simultaneous effects of technical progress and North-South trade. One of the aims of this paper is to model the defensive innovation concept, i.e. the technical progress induced by trade. In particular, we show that the technical progress effects are quite greater than the trade ones. However, the innovation effects depend on substitution elasticity among production factors. Moreover, the technical progress induced by trade tend to reduce inequalities.
