Abstract

[eng] The theme of this article concerns the structuring of the industrial labour market in Japan. Its principal object is to examine systematically traditional approaches to the question of dualisme including labour mobility, integration of the labour force and wage formation.. An empirical analysis shows clearly the existence of segmentation in the functioning of the labour market, but such segmentation must be understood as a product of thé ensemble of social and économie forces or what the author terms regulation having its own coherence. To account for these developments, it seems important to understand the spécific form of industnal skill-qualification which shapes the peculiar structure of the labour market. Finally, in explaining the complet case of the Japanese situation, the author emphasizes the role of workers age, a factor which is closely tied to the materiel and social conditions of the Japanese family life-cycle.
