Abstract

[eng] The indexed information supplied by the members of the farm management centres in France (Centre de Gestion et d'Economie Rurale), stocked by the IGER Data Bank, gives the evolution of working capital between 1971 and 1985, classified according to farming methods and surface areas. . Since 1978 (in 1985 francs), working capital has decreased and investments no longer cover depreciation. . As a result of adverse evolution between capital and profit, capital productivity remained constant between 1971 and 1985. Since 1974-1976, there has been a slight upward trend. As regards capital profitability however, it has reached a standstill in cereal farming and is decreasing in dairy farming.
