Abstract

[eng] Employment in the Agricultural Foodstuffs Industries - According to the 1982 General Census of the Population, there were 626 000 jobs salaried or not in the Agricultural Foodstuffs Industries (« Industries Agricoles et Alimentaires » or « IAA » in French) or 436 000 excluding the very specific sectors of individual bread and pastry bakers. . The IAA sector is characterized by a great stability of employment, overall with large changes on a more detailed sector-based and/or geographic level. . So, from the first oil crisis, in 1973, whereas industrial employment (except for IAA) fell by 20 percent from 1974 to 1984, employment in « IAA » has remained stable ; netherless, it is not clear that this stability can be maintained In the future.
