Abstract

[eng] The European capital market from a European player’s point of view . In this interview, the former general manager of the Bank for International Settlements expresses his point of view on the integration of the capital markets in the main regions of the industrialised world and offers his recommendations for improving this process. He also shares his opinion of the risks generated by certain categories of institutions such as hedge funds. Lastly, he describes his perception of the relationships between the European capital market and its international environment, and his views regarding the level of cooperation between the various regulatory authorities working to ensure international financial stability. . JEL classification : F36, G15, N24 [fre] Dans cet entretien, l’ancien directeur de la BRI exprime son point de vue sur l’intégration des marchés des capitaux des principales zones du monde industrialisé et formule ses recommandations pour apporter des améliorations à ce processus. Il exprime également son opinion sur les risques suscités par certaines catégories d’institutions comme les hedge funds. Enfin, il développe sa vision des rapports entre le marché des capitaux européen et son environnement international ainsi que son sentiment quant au niveau de coopération entre les différents régulateurs pour assurer la stabilité financière internationale. .
