Abstract

. Classification JEL : F36, N24 [eng] Towards a single financial services market ? . The creation of an integrated European market for retail banking and financial services would stimulate competition and lower the financing costs supported by economic agents. In this respect, the advent of the single currency represents a catalyst for the process of integrating the European financial services market, and the measures set forth in the Financial Services Action Plan (FSAP) are consistent with building a single market. This paper takes stock of the integration of the European financial markets and traces the paths of progress that must be taken to facilitate the global expansion of European players. . JEL classification : F36, N24
