Abstract

[eng] Insurance was first developed into sea transport, but it didn’t imply actuarial studies. They appeared with probabilities and their application into the insurable events’ happening. Probabilities and actuarial methods were implemented with life insurance and later with non-life insurance. To understand the actuary’s role in the world, the analysis has to take into account the historical context before to deal with the last decades developments. The author then exposes likely prospects of actuary. . . Classification JEL : G22
