Abstract

[eng] On the basis of a detailed study of 17 big French industrial conglomerates, the article shows the profound evolution of their social policies since 1968, and particularly since the crisis. The big differences between the strategies followed by those conglomerates are attributed to some main determinants (industrial activity, relation with space and with the State, results, social relations). The duration of the crisis is homogenizing the social policies « downwards » through flexibility and/or renewed « degrees of freedom ». What is the likely duration and the significance of this « new strategy for social progress » ?
