Abstract

[eng] Abstract . The coup Maupeou has traditionally been analyzed as a victory of the monarchy, the chancellor having managed to end the opposition of the Parliament in 1771. It is well known that the public opinion, philosophisers included except Voltaire, have condemned this authoritarian reform. What is it less is that the partisans of the royal power within parliaments considered their collaboration in the work of the chancellor as a collective as well as a private failure. It is what shows the example of Jean-Jacques Vidaud de La Tour, first president of the parliament of Dauphiné from 1771 until 1775.
