Abstract

[eng] Abstract In the manifold expressions of lyric art during the second part of twentieth century, the concept of political or ideological commitment seems to give sense to an analytical approach beyond either esthetical and idiomatic categories,. The study of four stylistically very different works (The Consul of Gian-Carlo Menotti, Intolleranza 1960 of Luigi Nono, Das Floss der Medusa of Hans-Werner Henze and Montségur of Marcel Landowski) shows indeed recurrent features in the dramatic conception (breakings of the narrative logic, anonymous characters). Concerning the musical treatment of the texte and his message, two large categories could be distinguished, depending on whether these works show a reinforced expression or, on the contrary, bring up a polyphonic fusion of vocal and intrumental parts which keeps the listener from understanding the text. Starting from such criteria, this study represents a first step towards a larger-scale project, with the aim to establish a typology of the «committed opera».
