Abstract

[eng] Abstract The chronicle of the Member of Parliament, Labat de Savignac (1708-1720), is an important piece of documentation for the social history of the beginning of the eighteenth century. The text opens new paths for the study of the private life of a man, from the cradle to the grave. Further more, we can form an idea about his daily life : clothing, food, and entertainment, although some darker points also appear, such as illness, medicine, surgeres, death, sorrow and funerals... [fre] Résumé La chronique du conseiller au Parlement Labat de Savignac (1708-1720) constitue, pour l'histoire sociale du début du XVIIIe siècle, une source majeure, qui permet l'esquisse d'une peinture de la vie privée. Elle nous offre ainsi la possibilité de porter un nouveau regard sur ce que pouvait être la vie d'un homme à l'époque moderne, du «berceau au tombeau», mais aussi sur ce qui fait son quotidien : se vêtir, se restaurer, se distraire, sans oublier, bien sûr, de plus noirs aspects, comme la maladie, la médecine, la chirurgie, le décès, le deuil, l'enterrement...
