Abstract

[eng] Abstract In Catholic discourse of the latter part of the 16th century, the presence of the Huguenot in France was regarded as a spiritual pestilence infecting French society. Huguenots were stigmatized to the point that even their bodies were seen as diseased, a manifestation of their spiritual deviation. This text serves as an attempt to undestand the genesis and proliferation of this morbid discourse as well as the absolute hatred which it provoked.
