Abstract

[fre] Résumé Ce texte est celui de la brève communication prononcée lors de la session A2 du congrès de Louvain (août 1990). Il présente quelques réflexions à propos de l'importance d'un mode de transport pré-industriel durant la période d'industrialisation et de son rôle sur la croissance économique des principaux pays «first comers». [eng] Abstract This lecture has been given during the session A2 of the International Congress in Leuven (August 1990). It offers some observations on the continued relevance of an essentially pre-industrial mode of transport in the industrial age, on the question of its importance to economic development of the countries «first comers».
