Abstract

[eng] The trend towards home ownership and "rurbanization" - More than one household in two now owns its own home. Almost one household in two lives in a private house and, at present, there are twice as many of them constructed as apartments. The trend towards home ownership and the extension of the individual habitat continues while urban construction is slowing down. Such are the principal aspects of "re-urbanization" or the tendency to leave urban centers for a small city or the nearby country-side, often by becoming the owner of a private house. Thanks to credit made available by the public authorities, those who have recently acceded to this status are young: on the average 35 years of age at the time of their moving in. Couples with two or more children and "cadres" as well as laborers are over-represented.
