[eng] 1954-1982: the disruption of the social landscape - The former code of socio-professional categories endured thirty years, thirty years in the course of which it permitted the measurement of disruptions which have marked the social landscape of the country. 1954: more than one worker out of four tills the soil. Industrial and commercial bosses are slightly more numberous than employees. Middle managers, executives and professionals occupy In their totality less than one job in ten. 1982: farmers and their employees constitute no more than 7.5% of the active population. Employees are four times more numerous than bosses. The number of middle managers has tripled in relation to 1954. The same is true of executives and professionals. As for workers, their part in the active population progressed rapidly from 1954 to 1962, then slowed consistently before decreasing significantly from 1975 to 1982. It has returned, in this way, to a level close to that of 1954, 35 %.
