Abstract

[fre] La rentabilité des capitaux investis est une des variables importantes du comportement des entreprises, et un des critères essentiels d'action des institutions financières. Faute de données, ce sujet a été jusqu'à présent peu étudié en France d'un point de vue macroéconomique, alors que le suivi de la rentabilité par secteurs est un des outils classiques de l'analyse économique et financière dans d'autres pays (États Unis, Grande Bretagne, Japon, etc.). Des travaux statistiques importants menés d'une part à l'INSEE et d'autre part au sein des Centrales de bilans de la Caisse des Dépôts-SEDES, du Crédit national et de la Banque de France permettent de combler cette lacune et d'amorcer une description de l'évolution de la rentabilité selon diverses sources et divers concepts. Ce numéro d'Économie et statistique est consacré à trois études sur la rentabilité, mettant en œuvre des sources et des méthodes diverses.
