Abstract

Primary market is the segment in which new issues are made whereas secondary market is the segment in which outstanding issues are traded. In the primary market, issues may be made in four ways, namely public issue, rights issue, private placement/private equity and bonus issue. The IPO’s are regulated by SEBI in terms of SEBI guidelines: SEBI has framed the guidelines in 1992, which were changed many times keeping in view the in consistencies, market development and changing needs of the capital market. A new set of guidelines was issued in the years 2000.
