Evolución de los Salarios Reales en el Perú: 1900-1940

Abstract

A pesar del alto aprecio por los asuntos economicos, los gastos para el desarrollo y el aparato estadístico para apoyar las decisiones gubernamentales, los gobiernos civilistas de la Reptilica Aristocrática (1895-19 19) nunca lograron organizar y ejecutar un censo nacional. Algo cercano fue intentado a comienzm del periodo en 1896, cuando la Sociedad Geográfica de Lima formó una comisi6n encargada de estimar la población del Perú, no ~510 nacional, sino para cada uno de los departamentos y provincias. Sin duda el resultado sobreestim6 la población total a la vez que fue la fuente de sobrestimaciones periodicas subsiguientes hasta que el censo nacional de 1940 eliminó estas especulaciones.
