Abstract

En el presente ensayo se examinarán varios de los problemas que afectaron la transformacion de la agricultura chilena desde 1850 hasta 1970. Algunos de estos problemas solo discutidos y analizados en relacion a determinados sub-períodos, mientras que otros seran tocados mas extensamente y para todo el período. Los estudios realizados sobre cambios agrarios en Chile mayormente se han ocupado del marco de la Reforma Agraria o de la epoca posterior a la Segunda Guerra MundiaL . Pocos se ocupan de las tendencias de desarrollo de largo alcance. Sin embargo, una mgor comprensión del todo y las partes sa logra contrastando diferentes subperiodos (particularmente el pre y post 1930). De igual manera, la reforma agraria sólo puede ser entendida km todas sus dimensiones si se considera el desarrollo a largo plazo.
